Our Inception

The tribal development authorities granted permission to set up the “Adarsh Nivashi School, Tilakwada.” After some time, the Gujarat State Tribal Education Society established 11 model residential schools with the title of Eklavya Model Residential School.

The Joint Initiative

The ‘Adarsh Nivashi School,’ Tilakwada became known by the name 'Global Indian Foundation,' Singapore, a joint initiative of the Singapore-based Global Schools Foundation (GSF) and the State Government of Gujarat, India. The tribal school is located in Tilakwada, nearly 65 km from the city of Vadodara.

The Concept

Former Indian President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the man behind the school concept. He requested the Global Schools Foundation to introduce quality education opportunities in the remote parts of India.

A Model Concept of Quality Education

Late Dr. L M Singhvi (Founding President, GSF), Late Prof. MGK Menon (Patron, GSF), and Late Justice C S Dharmadhikari (President, GSF) initiated the Tilakwada tribal school to impart quality education to children in the tribal areas. The Government of India and the State Government of Gujarat jointly funded the school.

Currently, this school is well-known as 'Mahatma Gandhi Global Indian Eklavya School' (MGGIES).
